TECHNOLOGY & INTERNET SERVICES
We recognize the role technology can play in improving the quality
of teaching and learning. As more and more resources become available
to support the acquisition of technological infrastructure, the
need will be framed not by access, but by application. In fact,
the value of technological applications can drive efforts to establish
access.
Technology is a powerful tool that can be used for a wide range
of information management, professional development, and instructional
applications. There are many examples of how technology has been
used to overcome barriers of inequity and served to enrich teaching
and learning. However, we also recognize that technology is only
a tool and must be an integral part of a systemic, comprehensive
plan for school improvement.
With this in mind, we are supporting schools and districts in
planning for technology from establishing infrastructure to developing
strategies to integrate technology into teaching and learning
in meaningful ways. We are also supporting several statewide initiatives
that are demonstrating innovative applications of technology:
